38 weeks | 8.4 pounds of love

We had a great check-up this week! The ultrasound tech told us our little man was measuring 8.4 lbs already, which would have made him 39 weeks and 6 days on Monday, but they like to stick with original due dates. She also said he seems to have long legs, so we can't wait to see what he actually comes out looking like! I know however he comes out that I will love him to pieces.

I have been cramping and having some contractions (probably Braxton Hicks) throughout the last few days. I would love to know if I am dilated and I will probably find out at our next appointment which happens to be today!

I tend to write the blogs after the week is fully over so I can make sure I document everything from throughout the entire week!
My last day of work was Friday the 16th, so now I am home trying to catch up on blog posts and a few things with my photography business. I am also making sure all my bags are packed and in the car and everything is ready for him to arrive!

Hope to have some exciting news soon!!!!!!!! :)

Becoming a mother... | Mother's Day 2014

This post is dedicated to such a wonderful mother and friend, Sandra Heath. I couldn't ask for a better role model and encourager.

As I sit here and type, I begin to laugh at all the things I have given my mother on Mother's Days in the past. Here is my silly list of the things I remember giving her:

1.  For some strange reason, Daddy and I always gave her bedroom shoes and bath robes. I still to this day don't know why we always gave her those things. Maybe she asked for them? Still not sure about that one.
2. Some pretty lame poems that probably meant a whole lot to her and still hangs on the frig to this very day.
3. Last year, that crazy pin I gave her with a card that says, "Ask me about the amazing kid I raised". Haha I am sure she just loved that!

4. This year I gave her two little gifts ahead of time just in case I had the baby early and I was overwhelmed with learning how to be a mother to a newborn baby.  I gave her a necklace with her first initial and painted her a cross that said "blessed" to hang on her door. Little does she know that when we go eat tonight she will be getting something a little extra for fun :)

Some of those are a little funny and some probably are meaningful, but this year I really want to say THANK YOU for raising me. This is my public display of affection to let you know how much you really mean to me.

Becoming a mother is very challenging. I know that seems ridiculous coming from a mother-to-be that has no clue what it's like to actually have a child, yet. I do; however, know what it's like to carry a baby in the womb for 9 months. At times it isn't easy..

Thank you Mama for being so selfless:
You love me and Jason so much... I can, now, say I know you loved us both from the very beginning when you found out that you were with child. You were selfless from the beginning by sharing your body to give us life. You watched what you ate or at least I know you had to with me! Instead of getting upset you smiled when we kicked you and you probably even felt a little helpless when we had the hiccups inside your tummy :)

I will always remember the times you had to doctor all my boo boos, especially the ones from all my bike crashes! I have the scars on my knees and legs to prove that :)

From when I skinned my knees on my bike to a time when I deeply needed you in college.. you were always right there holding my hand and praying for me every step of the way. I wouldn't have made it without you...

Instilling an understanding of faith and hope in Christ has always been most important to you as a mother. You continue to push Jason and I towards Christ in a way that brings comfort and joy into our lives. You are the definition of a prayer warrior.

You are the mother that sits at an event I have to work and waits for hours just to be with me. (MJWC Movie Under the Stars 2013) :) You're the biggest supporter and encourager in my life (it's a tie between you and Jeff now days - hehe). You have been my second shooter at weddings and my favorite person on the sidelines telling me I can do anything I want in life.

You spend your days learning how you can help others. When I hit my nesting phase, you took a day to come and help me organize and clean the baby's nursery and the house. And you are already spoiling my sweet baby boy with all types of goodies and love.

Although I get frustrated I see the way you try to learn things to relate with Jason and I, like learning how to keep up and use social media. Trying to teach you how is extremely hard, but it means so much that you want to learn to keep up with what Jason and I have going on.

You have done a phenomenal job raising Jason and myself. We are truly thankful for everything you have done and continue to do in our lives.

After all those years of your hard work and selfless love, I believe physically and emotionally I am starting to relate to you..

I have this overwhelming love for this little guy that I haven't even met yet.

I am scared, but I am ready. I ask God to help me prepare, but there's really no way to prepare but to just give it all to him and from you that's what I have learned.

You're such a strong woman with a humble heart and for that I am most thankful.

I guess what I am trying to say is.. I want to be just like you: loving, selfless, kind, strong, and beautiful.

Thank you for being an amazing mother. Happy Mother's Day. I love you.

36 weeks | Only 4 weeks left

ONLY 4 weeks left (hopefully) till we get to meet our little mister!
I am welcoming the month of May with open arms! Not only will our little man be here soon, but we have a few special birthdays to celebrate! Jeff's birthday is the 22nd, my mother-in-laws is the 26th, and Mandy's (one of my best friends) is the 28th! Woohoo for all the celebrations ahead!

Check out the before and after pictures of the dining room table Jeff built for us! The wood to make the table is out of an old piece of furniture Jeff and I bought at Goodwill when we were first married. We needed something extra for our old apartment, so we found a unique piece of furniture to fill the spaces! I didn't want to get rid of it, but he insisted we didn't need it anymore. I gave in and he made something very special out of it that we can keep forever! It definitely means so much to me...

35 weeks | Nursery Complete

Baby about the size of a:  Honeydew Melon

Baby Measurement: Baby boy is over 5 or 6 lbs. The last Ultrasound we had was on April 14th and she told us he was measuring 5 lbs 3 oz. So, I am sure he is a lot bigger by now!

Feeling: Whew! Definitely starting to feel him drop a little every day. Seems strange how every time I start to get comfortable I have to run to the bathroom. My bladder is certainly feeling overworked. Haha. Now when he moves I can feel little parts of his body. I swear there have been at least two days I have felt his tiny hands go across my tummy.

Baby H's Nursery

Check out some of the pictures of his nursery! Nana (my mother) came to Moultrie to help us get organized for our little man. This is the final look of the nursery. The only thing left to do is to put his name on the boards over his crib. We are still waiting on Daddy to help us decide a name!

The colors are a mixture of navys, blues, and khakis. Definitely not your average baby boy nursery, but it's really what my husband wanted. The more I think about it the more I am glad this is how it ended up looking. Jeff and I were talking about different nursery themes and they didn't quite fit his personality or mine for a little boy. This is where our inspiration comes from.. our personalities! We love the outdoors and being adventurous!

32 weeks | 8 weeks To Go and Bainbridge Shower

Baby about the size of a:  bok choy

For those of you who don't know what that is (like me) here is the definition! :)

bok choy

ˈbäk ˈCHoi/

noun
  1. Chinese cabbage of a variety with smooth-edged tapering leaves.

Feeling:  Tired, tired! Needing sleep since I don't get much at night lately. Acid Reflux and baby movements keep me up all night. Other than that, I have been pretty good!

Motivation: I have already packed our little man's diaper bag for the hospital and slowly working on getting mine together! I am trying to be on top of my game for when he comes, so we won't have to stress much! His room is pretty much all set up. We still need a rocking chair and pack n' play! Our nursery is so small in this house, so I can't wait to move and make it more personal later on.

Bainbridge Baby Shower

I had such a blast at the shower and all my girls showed us so much love. The decorations were perfect and I couldn't have asked for a better turn out! Check out some of the pictures here!
