I couldn't be more excited and delighted to share with the world that Jeff and I are having a baby! WOW, sounds so strange just telling everyone cause I have had to keep it a secret for about 4 weeks! If you are reading this, you are one of the few friends I have told so far. We want so badly to shout it from the rooftop, but we know that right now we just need to enjoy the fact that God has blessed us with a child.
We told you because we are mostly asking for prayers right now. Prayers for a healthy baby and a smooth pregnancy are exactly what we need. God knows what He is doing, so I trust that He will see this journey through to how it should be.
So, let me rewind a bit and tell you how it all went down. :)
The BIG News
The month of September was a complete blur. I seriously can't seem to go back and get my days in order. Luckily, I started a journal to give baby Horne when he or she gets here!
Let's go back to September 3rd.. I was devastated after going to the dermatologist and hearing that nothing could be done about my "adult acne" that seemed to creep in the past few months. The doctor said in order to "cure" my face I would have to take two pregnancy tests and get back on birth control just to take this special medication. Of course, I said no and cried until he said, "I am sorry I just want to make sure that if you are having a baby the baby is safe and protected."
Well, I had been feeling a bit under the weather and to be honest my boobs ached so much. Tuesday, September 17, I had this uncontrollable burping thing going on. ( Attractive, I know lol ) Some one made the comment, "you might be pregnant". I definitely didn't think I was, so I went home and took a pregnancy test, hoping I would get to tell Jeff that he was going to be a daddy the next day on our 3rd anniversary. Pregnancy test was negative. Jeff and I still had an amazing anniversary night together and life went on! :)
Saturday, September 21st, I photographed a beautiful wedding in Moultrie at Friendship Alliance Church. Sunday, I woke up feeling like I had literally been ran over by a train. I cried. I slept. I watched Lifetime Movies and did absolutely nothing, except lay on the couch. I was miserable.
Wednesday, September 25th, I had a gyno appointment/check-up. I went in as normal and peed in the cup ( like everyone does ). When my appointment was almost over, the Nurse Practitioner asked me how things were going and if we were planning on getting pregnant anytime soon. I told her that we weren't trying, but we weren't preventing, which she already knew. While talking to her, the other nurse in the room said, "well, I didn't check her to see if she is pregnant. Should I?" The NP laughed and said, "Yeah, you should"...
10 minutes and 2 urine tests later, I find out that Jeff and I are having our first child! I am so overwhelmed that I literally have no words except, "are you sure?" Haha. Below are some pictures that a nurse captured of me finding out and getting my blood test. (these were taken on a cell phone)
After taking blood, I was told to go home and wait for my results. When I get to the house, I had to teetee again so I decided to check for myself on a home pregnancy test... there it was.. a + sign. I was in shock and all I could do was praise Jesus.
I prayed 1 Chronicles 29:10-13 - why you ask? I absolutely don't know why. It was the first thing the Bible flipped to and it worked perfectly for my racing heart.
Praise be to you, Lord,
the God of our father Israel,
from everlasting to everlasting.
Yours, Lord, is the greatness and the power
and the glory and the majesty and the splendor,
for everything in heaven and earth is yours.
Yours, Lord, is the kingdom;
you are exalted as head over all.
Wealth and honor come from you;
you are the ruler of all things.
In your hands are strength and power
to exalt and give strength to all.
Now, our God, we give you thanks,
and praise your glorious name
Telling The Hubby
After trying to convince him to leave work and have lunch with me, I had to end up waiting the rest of the day to spill the beans! Jeff was busy at work, which I am sure we all are, but I had something really important! Actually, I am glad I didn't get to tell him during or at work because his reaction wouldn't have been the same! (God's plan)
I went to the store and bought Jeff a brownie cake (kind of like a cookie cake but with brownies) that said, "We love you Daddy"... posted below -
Straight after work I came home and Jeff was sweeping ( because he is a fantastic husband ;) ) and I gave him the cake. He was speechless and every emotion poured from his face like a range of emoticons! Haha. So, he comes over gives me a huge hug and takes me back to the bedroom TO PRAY! What an amazing man of God! He prayed for us and the baby and for our future as a family. It was the most amazing thing ever. Afterwards, he got up kissed my forehead and went back to sweeping. LOL I said.. that's all you are going to do is keep sweeping!!!???
So, Daddy's first full sentence was... "I guess that means I need to get a baby book for the deer stand."
HAHA - a sentence I thought I would never hear, but definitely something I expect from my great white hunter!
Jeff has been so nurturing and encouraging these past few weeks! Moving weekend with his parents made me realize how much he really cares. He kept trying to feed me bananas since they didn't have much at the new house to eat. He is so funny. Finally, I told him I was sick of bananas as he tried to hand me another one. His dad walked by and said.. "that baby is going to come out as a CHIMPANZEE!" haha
Our First Ultrasound
We got to see baby for the first time on Thursday, September 26th during an ultrasound! I found out that I was 4 to 5 weeks. Looking back and the more information I have gotten I know now that during this time I was exactly 4 weeks and 5 days! Picture posted below - though it doesn't look much like anything just a circle! CRAZY!
Geez, isn't that tiny! Well, we were told to come back in two weeks or so to see the heartbeat and to hopefully hear it!
Telling the Parents & Siblings
Friday, September 27th, This week went by sooo fast! One minute we find out we are pregnant the next we are telling our parents and siblings! We decided to take a picture the night we found out the good news and to somehow surprise our parents with the news as well! So, I wrote on the picture - "We thought you'd like to have the first picture of the three of us" and we wrote the due date! :) We gave one to my mom, Sandra, and she almost cried she was so excited! Then we went to his parent's house in Bainbridge, which now they are living in Newnan. (I told you a lot has gone on the past two months!) Both MIL and FIL (mother-in-law and father-in-law) were extremely happy for us and ready for a little grandbaby! We all went out the eat and share lots of memories and laughter that I can't wait to share with baby. Below is the picture we made and gave them!
I look a little pregnant right there, but I am actually not showing yet! I think I was just really bloated, which apparently comes along with pregnancy! lol
Next, we called and told my brother, Jason, and Jeff's sisters, Melissa and Katie. Jason was a little upset that I waited two days to tell him the news, but he got over it! He is ready to be an uncle! :) Melissa was a little speechless and Katie was screaming! HA
We carried on a long convo through text after talking on the phone and I was able to screenshot a few of the funny stuff they sent! Check them out...
Telling Friends
So, some of you know by text message or either by phone, but here are a few pictures of screenshots on my phone from some of my friends.. some of them are hilarious! I am blessed and baby Horne is blessed with amazing aunts! I am wanting so badly to tell my friends back home, but I really want to sit down with them altogether face to face!
Keri Haire - Jeff and I called Keith and Keri to tell them together :)
Mandy Lundquist - she is so caring and lovesss her some kids so she is psyched!
Rosanne Samples - (one of the best - snapped - LOVE)
Ashley Carroll Kinser - Jeff and I called and told Ashley and John the good news together! That booger was hard to get a hold of ;)
Emily Conger Whitworth - she is ready to be another aunt.. isn't that precious! :)
Jenna Nielsen Welch - I just love how excited my friends are.. it literally blesses my heart and brings me so much joy!
I have a few more, but these are ones I wanted to share. They make me laugh! I just love them!
I am thankful for such encouraging friends/sisters! If you are not posted, it doesn't mean I love you less, I promise! Plus, I am trying to tell all my Bainbridge girls at one time, but it doesn't seem like it's going to work. I may just have to end up calling each of them!
Our Second Ultrasound
Baby Horne has such a strong heartbeat! We were able to hear it and see it flicker at our second ultrasound on Monday, October 7th. Baby was 6 weeks and 2 days old that day! It was so amazing and of course I cried! Jeff was so excited and the look on his face told me everything was going to be okay. See how much our baby has grown ----
Well, until next time! :) Hope you enjoyed our little story and continue following my pregnancy updates!
